left Hongkong for Macao at 2 P.M. of the 31st ultimo met with a terrible gale; that owing to the violence of the wind being too great to turn the vessel back. and the sea m making a clear_ sweep of the deck leaptain Carroll was

compelled to anchor off the Nine Blands, about 68m, about seven miles from Macac ; and about 118.M. she heeled over and went down.
